Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, ZyD XyD I!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Marco Blurström and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gibson dives in and grabs XyD I's left leg, looking for a takedown. XyD I pushes down on Gibson's head and hops out.
Mark Gibson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gibson keeps the fight on the outside.
XyD I wants to clinch up but Gibson keeps it at a distance.
XyD I ducks under a wild hook from Gibson.
XyD I closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gibson circles away.
XyD I shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Gibson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in XyD I's guard.
XyD I wants to improve his position but instead Gibson has moved into half guard.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if XyD I can do anything to dispel that myth.
Gibson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

We're going to have a standup here because Mark Gibson wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
XyD I shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Gibson sprawls well. Gibson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. XyD I gets slowly back to his feet.
Mark Gibson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of ZyD XyD I.
XyD I fails in his attempt to clinch.

Gibson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Gibson lands a nice short elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
XyD I is looking to control Gibson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can XyD I avoid being mounted?

Gibson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Mark Gibson just wasn't active enough.
Gibson throws a shot from downtown. XyD I moves away and avoids it.
Gibson looks for a takedown but XyD I sprawls well.
XyD I shoots in for a takedown but Gibson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
XyD I tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gibson swivels and escapes.

and Gibson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Gibson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
XyD I has momentary wrist control but Gibson slips an elbow through the middle.
XyD I wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Gibson is now in half guard.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Gibson takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gibson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks XyD I with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Gibson lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear XyD I down.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Gibson scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh XyD I is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Gibson can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
