The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shinjo misses with a leg kick and McIllhenny connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Shinjo connects with a leg kick. That was a close round but I would say that Fink McIllhenny will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

and Shinjo counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Shinjo stands and throws McIllhenny's legs to the side, diving into side control. McIllhenny takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
McIllhenny sneaks back into half guard. Shinjo wants to pass the guard but McIllhenny is defending well. Sho Shinjo has got the better of the ground game so far. Shinjo is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Shinjo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Sho Shinjo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Fink McIllhenny is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
