Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie comes to the cage accompanied by Hydraulix 13.5 - D.A.V.E. the Drummer & Alex Calver. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
34 - 24 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Aaron Gracie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Sean Smith! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Anni Minnemäki and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Smith sprawls well initially but Gracie persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Still in half guard, Gracie seems content to control. Smith is doing well to control the position and prevent Gracie from advancing to side control. Smith is looking for a sweep. Gracie is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gracie connects with a nice short shot to Smith's temple. Smith is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Smith is trying to maintain the position but Gracie is very close to passing his half guard. Gracie passes to side control. Gracie landing a few strikes. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Smith tries to improve position but can't. You can see the frustration on Smith's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Gracie working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

You can't force these things though and Gracie defends well. Smith working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Gracie. Gracie wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving. Smith wants to sweep but no luck. Gracie is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gracie looking to pass the guard. Gracie slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Aaron Gracie wasn't doing enough on the ground. Smith uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gracie.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Smith is defended easily by Gracie. Smith keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Gracie. Gracie tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Smith was well out of range. Poor timing from Gracie. Smith swings away with a body shot that misses
and Smith takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Smith misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Smith connects with a crisp jab. Gracie lands with a shot to the body. Gracie throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gracie scores with a crisp jab that stopped Smith in his tracks. Gracie throws a hook but Smith avoids it easily. Gracie scores with a jab to the body. Aaron Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gracie thuds his right hand into Smith's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Smith lands a nice shot to the body.
Gracie closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Gracie is thwarting Smith's attempts to control the position. Smith preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Gracie controlling the action here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Smith ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gracie moves away. Gracie closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Smith to the mat! Smith manages to get full guard. Gracie trying to control but Smith is working from the bottom. Smith had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gracie defends it easily. Smith keeping moving, preventing Gracie from controlling successfully. Smith looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Gracie passes easily into side control. Nice work. Smith is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie working away. Gracie slows the pace down. Gracie wants to lay and pray for a moment but Smith keeps working. Smith gets back to half guard. Smith trying to control here.
Gracie is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Aaron Gracie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Smith looking for submissions off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith won't allow Gracie to pass to mount. Gracie works his foot free and advances to mount. Gracie in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Gracie lands a big shot there that rocks Smith but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Smith is desperately trying to improve his position but Gracie has a good base and remains in mount. This has been an exciting period of action! Smith tries to lock up and control but Gracie gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Smith is squirming around, avoiding Gracie's attempts to control the action. Smith wants to control but Gracie is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith is desperately trying to improve his position but Gracie has a good base and remains in mount. BOOM! Gracie connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Gracie content just to control the position here. Smith is in a horrible position here. Gracie smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
