Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between TJ Welsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arthur Dayne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Welsh comes to the cage accompanied by Lets Have A War. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, TJ Welsh! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Arthur Dayne! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Welsh misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Dayne throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Welsh fails with an attempt to clinch.
Dayne throws a series of punches but Welsh moves out of range. Jab from Dayne. Welsh walks into a jab.
It looks like TJ Welsh has been cut. Welsh looks for a takedown but Dayne sprawls well. Nice takedown defense from Dayne. No joy for Welsh on that attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for TJ Welsh. That's going to take a lot out of him. Welsh fails in his attempt to clinch. Dayne will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A jab from Dayne does it's job there. Welsh tries to clinch up but Dayne circles away and keeps his distance. Welsh clinches up with Dayne and pushes him back against the cage.

Welsh throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Dayne blocks it with crossed arms. Dayne tries to circle away but Welsh has him pinned against the cage. Dayne escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Welsh shoots in looking for a takedown. Dayne tries to sprawl out of it but Welsh keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dayne manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Dayne avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Welsh ducks under a wild hook from Dayne. Welsh moves in looking to clinch but Dayne pushes him off. Welsh throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dayne's waist but Dayne gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Welsh off to one side. The fight stays on the outside here - Welsh looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Welsh shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dayne as he avoids it easily.

Dayne misses with a looping right. Dayne fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Dayne misses with an uppercut. Welsh saw that one coming. Welsh fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Dayne avoids it really well and circles away. Welsh shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Dayne manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Welsh wants to control from the top but Dayne keeps moving. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dayne can do anything to dispel that myth. Dayne is looking to stand up but Welsh isn't so interested in that idea. Dayne utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Dayne pushes Welsh off and gets back to his feet.

Welsh pushes Dayne up against the cage in a clinch. Dayne wants to get back to striking at distance but Welsh won't allow it.

Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Dayne uses from the top position. Welsh seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Welsh manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Welsh has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Welsh wants to control the pace but Dayne is squirming around nicely. Welsh forces the positional change into back control.

Dayne is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Welsh gets his way!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Dayne fending off the submission attempt from Welsh. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Dayne is keeping busy.

That was a close round but I would say that TJ Welsh will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on TJ Welsh's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Welsh controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dayne keeping moving, preventing Welsh from controlling successfully. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

and Welsh connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Dayne stuffs the takedown. Welsh manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Dayne on his heels. He'll look to pass Dayne's guard now, I'm sure. Welsh stands up from Dayne's guard - Welsh perhaps looking for a knockout. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Welsh is defended easily by Dayne. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for TJ Welsh. That's going to take a lot out of him. Welsh shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Welsh was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Dayne holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Welsh tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
You get the feeling that Dayne really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Welsh looking for the choke from the back. Dayne wants to get back to his feet. Welsh is looking for the choke from the back position but Dayne is controlling his hands well. Welsh is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Welsh's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Dayne is trying to get back to his feet but Welsh has full control of the position and if anything, Dayne has just worked his way into a worse spot. Dayne is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Welsh slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Welsh's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Dayne wants to get back to his feet. Welsh is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Dayne taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Welsh.
