The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De La Cruz fails to land the takedown.
Noel looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
De La Cruz doesn't manage to clinch there - Noel circles away.
Noel closes the distance and clinches up with De La Cruz, looking for a takedown. Noel pushes De La Cruz against the cage but De La Cruz circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Eddie De La Cruz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
De La Cruz shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Noel counters with a nice double leg into side control. De La Cruz won't be happy with that.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Noel looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
