PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Richie Walpole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stefan Danski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Richie Walpole!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Stefan Danski!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Dmitry Maklakov and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Danski closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Danski lands in his opponent's guard.
Danski must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Danski trying to control but Walpole is working from the bottom.
Danski postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Danski lands a couple of elbows.
Walpole bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Danski's guard.
Danski is pulling down on Walpole's head. It's preventing any offense from Walpole, at least for the moment.
Walpole stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Danski swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Danski throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Walpole escapes and throws Danski's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Danski really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Walpole. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Danski is trying to improve his position.
Walpole wants to stand but Danski is controlling his arm.
Danski trying to control but Walpole flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Danski tries to roll but Walpole sticks to his back.
Danski turns into Walpole and is now in his guard.
Walpole manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Danski manages to get himself to full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Danski can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Danski wants to stand but Walpole is controlling the position.
Walpole wants to control from the top but Danski keeps moving.
Walpole stopping the sweep attempt from Danski.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Danski can't keep his opponent in guard - Walpole advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Danski moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Danski looking for a sweep. Not yet Danski, not yet.
Danski wants to stand but Walpole is controlling the position.
Walpole trying to control but Danski is working from the bottom.
Danski is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Danski is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Danski is looking for a kimura here.
Danski looks winded!
Walpole is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Danski is trying to control. Walpole wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Walpole slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Walpole bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Danski's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stefan Danski dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Danski will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Walpole throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Walpole scores with a hook to the body. Danski takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Danski fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Walpole avoids it really well and circles away.

Danski closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Walpole is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Stefan Danski has got the better of the ground game so far.
Walpole gets full guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Danski makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Danski's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Danski stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Walpole throws up his legs and catches Danski in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Danski tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Walpole! That came out of nowhere!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Richie Walpole!
