Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Daiju Kikuchi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Don Kier!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Jeff Smith and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kikuchi connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Kier's hands.
Kikuchi lands a leg kick that knocks Kier off balance momentarily.
Kikuchi pushes Kier up against the cage in a clinch.
Kikuchi lands a hook to the side of the head.
Kier is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kikuchi pulls him back up using the underhooks.
A nice right hand lands inside from Kikuchi.
Kier wants a takedown.
Kikuchi lands an uppercut.
Kikuchi presses Kier against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Kikuchi breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kikuchi tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kier was well out of range. Poor timing from Kikuchi.
Kier fails to land the takedown.
Daiju Kikuchi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Don Kier.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kier takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Nice jab there from Kikuchi.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Crunch! Kikuchi slams his shin into Kier's torso.
Kikuchi circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Kier to the canvas! Kier doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Kikuchi keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Daiju Kikuchi!
