1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dwight Garry Jr! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Sergei Dronov and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz avoids the head kick by Garry Jr.
Diaz lands a really nice looking cross but Garry Jr seems unphased.
Diaz lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
It looks like Dwight Garry Jr has been cut. Diaz lunges at Garry Jr with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Garry Jr's hand. Diaz fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Nick Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Diaz paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Garry Jr takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Garry Jr has taken the fight to the clinch.

Diaz drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Diaz jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Diaz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Garry Jr swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Garry Jr is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Diaz yanks on the arm and Garry Jr is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Diaz.
