Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mauricio Melendez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Victor Borzuha!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Daniel Cesar and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Melendez tries for a takedown but Borzuha circles away easily
and Borzuha holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Borzuha turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Borzuha manages to end up in side control.
Borzuha landing strikes.
Melendez tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Borzuha wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Melendez manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Melendez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Borzuha is nestled in close to Melendez, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Borzuha seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
It looks like Mauricio Melendez has been cut.

Borzuha landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Borzuha drops an elbow to the side of Melendez's head.
Borzuha slips a nice elbow through Melendez's hands, connecting with Melendez's forehead.
Melendez is rocked!
Borzuha lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Melendez quite badly. Melendez pulls Borzuha in close trying to recover. Borzuha postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Melendez on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Melendez doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Victor Borzuha!
