Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Da Coach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jerry Laskey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jerry Laskey has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Da Coach!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jerry Laskey!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laskey missing with a left hand there. Coach was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Laskey tries to score a power double leg takedown but Coach sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Laskey somewhat.
Coach throws a hook to the side of Laskey's head but Laskey sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Laskey tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Coach manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Laskey misses with a takedown attempt - Coach sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Laskey gets caught napping as Coach dives in and scores a takedown. Laskey manages to retain guard.
Coach would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Laskey looking for a guillotine here but Coach defends easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Laskey has his hands on Coach's head, controlling the position.

Laskey has his feet on Coach's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Coach fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Laskey, pushing him back against the cage.

Coach gets underhooks to prevent Laskey's takedown attempt.
Da Coach has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jerry Laskey.
Laskey lands a good knee to the midsection. Coach won't want to take too many of those.
Coach wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Laskey has him pressed against the cage.

Coach wants to break free but Laskey has control.
Laskey content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Coach changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Laskey fights it off and pushes away nicely.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Laskey has hold of one of Coach's legs. Coach is fighting the takedown attempt but Laskey gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Laskey stands up from Coach's guard - Laskey perhaps looking for a knockout.

Coach is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Laskey's half guard.
Coach seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Laskey does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Coach gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Laskey scores with a kick to the body.
Laskey throws a series of punches but Coach moves out of range.
Jerry Laskey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Coach counters by moving into the clinch.
A body shot lands from Laskey.
Laskey tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Laskey goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Laskey breaks from the clinch.
Laskey tries to bum rush Coach with a series of wild strikes but Coach uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Laskey misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Coach shoots in but Laskey avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Laskey tries to close the distance and clinch but Coach swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jerry Laskey dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Coach checks a leg kick.

Coach decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Coach wants to stand but Laskey has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Coach wants to pass to mount but Laskey is defending the position.
Laskey is trying to stand.
Laskey trying to control but Coach postures up.
Da Coach overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Coach tries to stand but can't do so whilst Laskey controls his leg.

Coach is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Laskey kicks Coach off and gets back to his feet.
Coach circles away from the clinch attempt.
Laskey fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Coach avoids it really well and circles away.
Laskey shoots in but no luck this time.

Laskey gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Coach tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Laskey escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Laskey throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Laskey tries a head kick but it misses.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Coach is defended easily by Laskey.
Laskey misses with a double jab
letting Coach counter with a right hand.
Laskey tries to clinch up but Coach circles away and keeps his distance.
Laskey is looking to clinch but Coach is avoiding it.
Laskey scores with the left hand. Coach knows he should have avoided that one.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Laskey fails with an attempt to clinch.
Laskey throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
A looping hook to the body misses from Coach. Laskey does a little dance to reset his feet.

Laskey cracks Coach with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Laskey has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Coach to stand back up!


Coach is rocked!
Coach swats away the attempt to clinch by Laskey.
Oh Coach is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Laskey shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Da Coach has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jerry Laskey.
Laskey tries to clinch but Coach is having none of it.
Coach seems to have got his legs back now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Laskey misses with the combination.
Laskey misses with a right hand
and Coach counters with a three punch combo that has Laskey backing up. Laskey nods at Coach to acknowledge the strikes.

Laskey takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Laskey shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Laskey is breathing heavily.
Coach fails with the takedown.
Coach keeps the fight on the outside.
Laskey takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

and Laskey takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Coach keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Coach looks to throw the jab but Laskey is out of range.

Laskey misses with a two punch combination.
Laskey throws a series of punches but Coach moves out of range.
Nice sprawl there from Laskey as Coach shoots in.
A looping hook to the body misses from Laskey. Coach does a little dance to reset his feet.
Laskey tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Coach will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Laskey has closed the distance and engaged Coach in a clinch.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jerry Laskey showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Coach shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Laskey but Laskey pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Coach counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Laskey has control of Coach's left arm, preventing Coach from doing any damage.
Coach has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Laskey shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Coach but Coach pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Coach throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Laskey's waist but Laskey gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Coach off to one side.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Laskey throws a body punch but Coach moves out of range.
Coach misses with a straight left.
Coach shoots in looking for a takedown but Laskey manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Coach's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Da Coach. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Coach counters with a right hand to the body.
Laskey tries to clinch but Coach moves out of range.
Coach throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Laskey sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Coach shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Laskey napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Laskey is looking for a sweep.
Laskey is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Coach decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Coach shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Laskey as he jumps to the side.
Laskey fails in his attempt to clinch.
Laskey drops his hands momentarily and Coach takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Laskey cracks Coach with an open hand slap.
Laskey wants to clinch but Coach slips to the side

and Coach counters with a single leg into guard. Laskey didn't expect that.
Coach wanted to stand there but Laskey had control of the position.

Laskey is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Coach tries to stand but Laskey is controlling from the bottom.

Laskey looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Laskey has his foot on Coach's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Coach works his way back into a safe position though.
Laskey takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Coach wants to pass the guard but Laskey is keeping the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Coach tries to stand but Laskey is controlling from the bottom.
Laskey bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Coach's guard.
Da Coach has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Coach is working an open guard so Laskey takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Coach will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Laskey misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Laskey shoots for a double leg takedown but Coach sprawls well. He's pushed Laskey's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Jerry Laskey is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
A looping hook to the body misses from Coach. Laskey does a little dance to reset his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Da Coach.
I think Laskey has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
