Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andriy Kersikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonathan Weed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kersikov might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Russian Roulette. On his way into the ring it seems that Andriy Kersikov has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Andriy Kersikov seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andriy Kersikov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jonathan Weed!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kersikov throws a front kick aimed at Weed's knee but Weed avoids it well.
Weed wants to clinch but Kersikov slips to the side
and Kersikov counters with an outside leg kick.
Weed wants to clinch.
Weed fails with the takedown
and Kersikov makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Kersikov tries to close the distance and clinch but Weed swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kersikov fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Kersikov lands with an uppercut that bounces Weed off the ropes and back into range.
Kersikov connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Weed's hands.
Kersikov throws a body punch but Weed moves out of range.
Weed has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Kersikov.
Kersikov connects with a high kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - Weed looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kersikov, as that shot connected.

Kersikov throws a right hand that misses

and Weed counters with a shoot takedown. Kersikov fights it but they end up in guard.

Weed wants to get up but he can't break Kersikov's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Kersikov lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Andriy Kersikov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Weed seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kersikov tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Weed is able to avoid easily.

Kersikov tries to score a body lock takedown but Weed shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

A quick uppercut on the inside from Kersikov.
Kersikov has a couple of punches blocked by Weed.

Weed drags the fight down to the ground.
Kersikov postures up in Weed's guard and throws a big left but Weed blocks it.
Kersikov is fighting to break Weed's control of his arms but Weed is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Kersikov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Weed swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The strikes coming from Kersikov are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Kersikov cracks Weed with a big right hand but Weed just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kersikov throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Kersikov throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Weed takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Weed chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Kersikov can pounce on him.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Weed working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kersikov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kersikov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kersikov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Kersikov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Well Kersikov has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
