Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Norifumi Yamabotcho! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Max Groove! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Groove tries to clinch but Yamabotcho moves out of range. Groove throws a series of punches but Yamabotcho avoids them all with ease. Groove tries a head kick but it misses.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Yamabotcho!

A combination from Yamabotcho does no damage. Yamabotcho's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Yamabotcho duly obliges. Groove tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Yamabotcho paws at him with a jab and circles away. Yamabotcho decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Nice strikes from Yamabotcho there. Yamabotcho prevents Groove from standing back up.
Yamabotcho is nestled in close to Groove, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Yamabotcho thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Groove is looking to escape. Groove is doing well to control the position and prevent Yamabotcho from advancing to side control. Yamabotcho thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Groove's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yamabotcho is keen to just control but Groove is a slippery customer. Yamabotcho thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Yamabotcho working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Groove is looking to escape. Yamabotcho lands strikes from half guard. Groove is not content to let Yamabotcho control the position. Yamabotcho looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Groove with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Yamabotcho slips a nice elbow through Groove's hands, connecting with Groove's forehead. Groove regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Yamabotcho. Groove throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Yamabotcho engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Yamabotcho postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Yamabotcho in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Groove working a defensive guard here.
Groove has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Yamabotcho doesn't defend quickly enough and Groove has managed to lock this one up! Can Yamabotcho escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Groove on a fantastic submission victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Max Groove! After the fight, Max Groove was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
