1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Steve Fox! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fox gets caught flat footed, as Richvoten shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Richvoten not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Richvoten scoring with punches to the head and body. Richvoten passes easily into side control. Nice work. Richvoten remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Richvoten lands a decent elbow from side control. That's one minute gone in the round. Fox seems a little lost for a moment, as Richvoten dominates the positioning. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Richvoten has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Richvoten controlling the pace for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Richvoten's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Richvoten scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Richvoten in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

Richvoten cracks a nice hook into Fox's ribs. Sloppy strikes from Fox. Those never looked like landing. Richvoten tries to keep at a distance but Fox has taken the fight into the clinch. Fox tries to break free but Richvoten pushes him back against the cage. Fox wants to break the clinch but can't.
Fox tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Richvoten's elbow. Richvoten keeps control of Fox as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Richvoten breaks the clinch.
Richvoten fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Richvoten connects with a body shot that sends Fox's belly button to the back. Richvoten darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Richvoten is controlling the pace.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Manfred Richvoten overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Richvoten drops an elbow to the side of Fox's head. Richvoten looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Richvoten lands a nice short elbow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Richvoten frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Richvoten is landing with some decent strikes but Fox is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Richvoten landing punches. Richvoten looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

Fox is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Richvoten controlling the position easily from mount. Fox is still in real trouble! Can Richvoten finish him?

That's really hurt Fox and he's turned his back - Richvoten keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Richvoten jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
