Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Takahiro Jouda! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Quinton Ellis! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Paul Gruel and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ellis looks for a takedown but Jouda sprawls well. No luck with that takedown attempt from Jouda. Ellis closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Jouda quickly recovers to half guard. Jouda is trying to control but can't.
Ellis wants to pass to mount but Jouda is defending the position. Jouda pushes Ellis off looking to stand but Ellis dives back in and keeps control.
Well, if Ellis is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Jouda wants to control the action here but instead Ellis manages to pass to full mount! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jouda is trying to stand. Ellis goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Jouda is on top in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jouda passes Ellis's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Jouda looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Jouda misses with a head shot. Ellis uses the momentum to regain guard. Ellis has momentary wrist control but Jouda slips an elbow through the middle. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jouda got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ellis has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jouda has managed to get both his arms back between Ellis's legs - danger averted. Ellis keeping moving, preventing Jouda from controlling successfully. Jouda stays in close to Ellis's body and controls the position. Jouda wants to control from the top but Ellis keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ellis seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Ellis wants to sweep here but Jouda controlling him for the moment. Jouda working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Jouda with a flurry of punches that miss. Ellis keeping moving, preventing Jouda from controlling successfully. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The ref stands the fighters back up because Takahiro Jouda just wasn't active enough. Jouda looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Jouda drives through with a takedown into guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Ellis holds on and takes a little breather. Ellis keeping moving, preventing Jouda from controlling successfully. Ellis trying to control the position.
Jouda sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ellis's guard. Jouda winds up and cracks Ellis with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Jouda looks to land a strike but Ellis avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Ellis looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Jouda wants to control from the top but Ellis keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ellis looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Ellis controls Jouda momentarily but Jouda frees himself. Jouda passes Ellis's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Jouda scores with a couple of good hammerfists. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The referee calls for the fighters to work.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ellis is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jouda pulls his head out easily. Jouda missing with the ground and pound from half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Takahiro Jouda dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
A momentary lapse in concentration from Ellis enables Jouda to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ellis manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Jouda's corner is telling him to maintain position. Ellis not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jouda wants to pass the guard but Ellis is keeping the position. Ellis avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Jouda trying to control the position from guard on top but Ellis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jouda postures up.
Jouda lands a couple of elbows. Jouda looking to pass the guard. Jouda is working hard here to advance position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ellis keeping moving, preventing Jouda from controlling successfully. Jouda stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ellis swivels though and keeps the full guard. Ellis has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. No luck with that takedown attempt from Ellis. Ellis fails to land the takedown. Jouda dives in and grabs Ellis's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ellis pushes down on Jouda's head and hops out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jouda shoots in but Ellis avoids the takedown attempt easily. No luck for Jouda with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Takahiro Jouda. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jouda defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ellis. Ellis shoots for a double leg takedown but Jouda sprawls well. He's pushed Ellis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Jouda gets a double leg takedown into Ellis's guard. Ellis is trying to keep Jouda in close.

Jouda looking to sit in guard and control but Ellis gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Jouda keeping moving, preventing Ellis from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ellis is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Jouda working a defensive guard here.
Jouda pushes Ellis off and scrambles back to his feet.
Jouda stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jouda wants it to stay on the feet. Jouda shoots in but Ellis avoids the takedown attempt easily. Jouda shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Ellis napping and manages to drive through into side control!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Check out the look on Jouda's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Jouda wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ellis, who protects the arm well. Ellis is working to avoid the ground and pound but Jouda connects with a decent elbow. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ellis manages to work his way to half guard, despite Jouda's best efforts. Ellis wants to control but Jouda is keeping busy and won't allow it. Jouda is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Ellis has managed to free his arm - good work. Jouda passes the guard and advances to mount! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jouda tries to control but Ellis wriggling away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Takahiro Jouda dominated that second round. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
Ellis misses with a takedown attempt and Jouda scores with a counter punch that sends Ellis to the canvas! Jouda smells blood - he's punishing Ellis with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Ellis has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Takahiro Jouda!
