The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Equinox throws out a loose jab but Gracie uses good head movement to avoid it.
Gracie moves into range and clinches up with Equinox.

Gracie drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Gracie manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Equinox on his heels. He'll look to pass Equinox's guard now, I'm sure.
Gracie drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Equinox manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Gracie has Equinox in his guard.

Equinox is fighting to break Gracie's control of his arms but Gracie is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John Equinox.
