Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gilbert Melendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Melendez comes to the cage accompanied by 2Pac-Ballad of a Dead Soulja. Perez has chosen Kill The Noise Pt. 1 as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Juan Perez! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Perez closes the distance and clinches up with Melendez, looking for a takedown. Perez pushes Melendez against the cage but Melendez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Melendez feints and as Perez raises his hands in defense, Melendez changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Perez working for a triangle but Melendez defends it easily.
Perez thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Perez has his foot on Melendez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Melendez works his way back into a safe position though. Perez is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Melendez is aware though and is defending well. Perez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Melendez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Perez looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Melendez passes into half guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Gilbert Melendez will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
