Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jose Aldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Fernan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aldo's entrance music is Rough Rida. A fine choice. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jose Aldo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Robert Fernan! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Ren Mimura and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fernan wants to clinch up but Aldo keeps it at a distance. Aldo comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Fernan fails in his attempt to clinch. Aldo clinches up with Fernan and pushes him back against the cage. Aldo cracks Fernan with a nice body shot. Fernan wants a takedown.
Aldo has a couple of punches blocked by Fernan.

Robert Fernan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Aldo tries to clinch up and Fernan counters with a leg kick. Fernan shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Jose Aldo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robert Fernan. Fernan slips a straight right by Aldo. Fernan closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Aldo misses with a hook from the clinch.

Fernan has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Aldo tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Fernan content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Fernan is trying to drag Aldo to the mat but Aldo just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Aldo scores with a hook to the body. This has been an exciting period of action! Aldo misses with a hook to the ribs.

Aldo tries to work over Fernan's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. A quick uppercut on the inside from Aldo. Aldo throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Fernans head. Aldo lands with a short shot to the head. Fernan blocks an uppercut.

Aldo leaves Fernan with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Fernan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Aldo circles away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Aldo lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Aldo throws a hook but Fernan avoids it easily. Aldo throws a looping overhand right but Fernan ducks down to avoid it. Fernan avoids a punch combination nicely.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Fernan unloads a knee to the mid-section. Aldo lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Aldo as Fernan tries to tie him up. Fernan prevents a body shot from Aldo. Aldo struggles to land a body shot inside as Fernan controls his hands.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Fernan is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Aldo is keeping busy. Aldo throws a head punch that misses. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Aldo as Fernan tries to tie him up. Fernan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jose Aldo dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Aldo throws a looping overhand right but Fernan ducks down to avoid it. Fernan will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Fernan walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Aldo checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Aldo jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Aldo thows a left - swing and a miss! Fernan feints and then cracks Aldo's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Aldo down. Fernan takes a jab right on the kisser.
Fernan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Aldo but Aldo pushes him off and we're back to square one. Aldo swats away the attempt to clinch by Fernan. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Fernan takes the fight into the clinch.

Fernan has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Aldo is trying to keep an underhook but Fernan manages to get the takedown into half guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Fernan is trying to work for a kimura but Aldo is defending well.

Fernan is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Aldo doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Fernan.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fernan winds up and cracks Aldo with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Fernan tries to pass to full mount but Aldo defends it. Aldo is trying to maintain the position but Fernan is very close to passing his half guard. Fernan stops Aldo from getting back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Aldo avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Fernan. Fernan slows the pace down in half guard. Aldo is trying is best to control the position here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fernan working Aldo over with strikes. Fernan controlling the pace. Aldo wants to get back to full guard. Aldo is not content to let Fernan control the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. The fighters circling - Aldo throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Fernan takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Aldo gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. The fight stays on the outside here - Fernan looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Aldo swats away the attempt to clinch by Fernan.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fernan has his takedown stuffed and Aldo counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Jose Aldo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robert Fernan. Fernan scores with a head kick.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Aldo enables Fernan to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Aldo manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Fernan works a leg free and moves into half guard. Fernan wants to take a breather but Aldo is having none of it. Aldo is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Fernan scores with a couple of nice shots. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Fernan controlling the action here. Robert Fernan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Fernan tries to close the distance and clinch but Aldo swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Aldo gets caught napping as Fernan dives in and scores a takedown. Aldo manages to retain guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Aldo tries to strike from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aldo wants to stand up but Fernan is controlling him. Fernan has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Fernan wants to pass the guard but Aldo is keeping the position. Fernan postures up in Aldo's guard and throws a big left but Aldo blocks it. Fernan won't allow Aldo to sweep him here. Fernan wants to control from the top but Aldo keeps moving. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Robert Fernan. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Fernan is defended easily by Aldo. Aldo lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Fernan! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Aldo goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Fernan turns into him and now he's in Aldo's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Fernan cracks Aldo with a solid left hand. Fernan wants to control from the top but Aldo keeps moving. Fernan with a nice head shot there. Fernan in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Fernan lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Fernan stays in close to Aldo's body and controls the position. Aldo keeping moving, preventing Fernan from controlling successfully. Aldo wants to stand up but Fernan is controlling him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fernan drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Fernan jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Aldo is trying to keep Fernan in close.

And that's the end of the fight! Robert Fernan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Fernan has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
