PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jeremy Kroft (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Banks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kroft comes to the cage accompanied by Ironman - Black Sabbath. Banks comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Tech N9ne- Slacker kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! On his way into the cage it seems that Jeremy Kroft has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jeremy Kroft seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jeremy Kroft!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Scott Banks!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Paul Gruel and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kroft misses with a body shot.
Kroft walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Banks checks a leg kick.
Some wild striking there from Banks.
Kroft moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Banks tries to work over Kroft's front leg with a kick but Kroft checks it.
Kroft drops his hands momentarily and Banks takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Kroft misses with a head kick.
Kroft shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Banks ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kroft moves away.
Banks misses with a leg kick.
Banks blocks a head kick by Kroft.
Kroft keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Banks misses with a looping left.
Banks throws a head kick but Kroft moves out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Kroft tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Banks throws a wild body kick that Kroft sees coming a mile off.
Kroft looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Banks looks to land a combination but Kroft avoids it well.
Banks throws a leg kick that misses.
Kroft throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Banks misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Banks throws a head kick but Kroft moves out of range.
Banks avoids the head kick by Kroft.
Banks scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Kroft doesn't seem bothered though.

and Kroft counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Banks is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Scott Banks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kroft pulls out of a head kick attempt.
No joy there for Banks, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Banks misses with an uppercut. Kroft saw that one coming.
Banks misses with a leg kick.
Banks swinging wildly here.
A low kick from Banks is predictable there
and Kroft counters with a nice leg kick.
Kroft throws a series of punches but Banks moves out of range.
Kroft throws a head kick that misses.

Kroft throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Banks.
Kroft scores with a punch to the head.
Banks misses with a series of wild punches.
Kroft misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kroft takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Banks blocks a head kick by Kroft.
Banks tests Kroft's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Banks tries to land a front kick but Kroft steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Banks throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Kroft moves out of range as Banks throws a body kick.
Kroft uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Banks.

Kroft misses with a head kick.
Banks paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Banks's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Banks duly obliges.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Banks throws a right and a left that both miss.
Banks with a nice cross.
Kroft blocks the body kick.
Banks avoids the head kick by Kroft.
Banks misses with the combination.
A punch combination from Banks misses.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kroft keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Kroft tries a head kick but it misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Scott Banks dominated that round.

and Kroft counters with a head kick that drops Banks to the mat! Banks scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!

Kroft and Banks are patiently standing in front of each other looking for an opening. Kroft throws a head kick. It's landed, knocking Banks into next week! Ooooh that was huge! Kroft knows it - he's on the cage flexing is biceps. That's a bit weird considering he won by kick but whatever.
