PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jake Sawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blokada Leningrada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leningrada is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Farewell of Slavyanka. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Sawa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Blokada Leningrada!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sawa moves away from the strike by Leningrada.
Leningrada thuds a left hand into Sawa's body.
Leningrada with a nice cross.
Sawa fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Sawa attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Sawa misses with a head kick.
Sawa tries a head kick but it misses.
Sawa throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Sawa tries to move into range but Leningrada moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Jake Sawa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Leningrada loads up on a big right hand but Sawa slips the punch.
Sawa defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Leningrada.
Sawa misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Leningrada steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Sawa. That one must have hurt.

Sawa throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Leningrada was covering up waiting for the punch and Sawa finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sawa forces his way into half guard.
Sawa working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Leningrada's thigh. Leningrada counters though and makes it back to full guard.

Leningrada not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Sawa looking to sit in guard and control but Leningrada gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Leningrada trying to control but Sawa is working from the bottom.
Leningrada sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sawa had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Leningrada defends it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Leningrada wanted to stand there but Sawa had control of the position.
Leningrada wants to pass the guard but Sawa is keeping the position.
Sawa looking to hit a scissor sweep but Leningrada is one step ahead there.
Leningrada tries to stand but Sawa is controlling from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Leningrada stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sawa swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Sawa wants to sweep but no luck.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Blokada Leningrada was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Leningrada blocks a head kick by Sawa.

Leningrada throws a quick inside leg kick.
Sawa uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Leningrada.
Sawa shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Leningrada gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Sawa takes a knee right on the jaw!


It looks like Jake Sawa has been cut.
Sawa looking to stall.
Leningrada lands a left hand that snaps the head of Sawa backwards.
Sawa stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Sawa tries to land knees in the clinch but Leningrada avoids the damage to the body.
Sawa wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Sawa working hard to break the clinch.
Sawa has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Leningrada tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Sawa manages to break the clinch.

Leningrada rushes Sawa and presses him up against the cage.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Leningrada lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Sawa backwards.
Leningrada tries to throw a body punch but Sawa avoids it by throwing Leningrada back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Blokada Leningrada will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Jake Sawa's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Sawa shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Leningrada eats them both and turns towards Sawa to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Leningrada throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Sawa shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Leningrada napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Sawa postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Sawa works to advance to full mount. Leningrada defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Sawa with good strikes from the mount here!
Leningrada keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Sawa jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Leningrada is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Leningrada and Sawa has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Leningrada manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Leningrada is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Sawa's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Sawa's back!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Leningrada struggling to keep hold of the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sawa is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Leningrada looking to break Sawa's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Sawa remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Leningrada will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Sawa trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Leningrada wants to control but Sawa manages to buck him off and is now in Leningrada's guard! Nice work there by Sawa!
Leningrada wants to get back to his feet but Sawa is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Sawa passes Leningrada's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Sawa passes to side control.
Sawa advances to full mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sawa trying to control but Leningrada is having none of it.
Sawa moves to the back position.
Leningrada is trying to stand back up.
Sawa thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sawa is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Leningrada knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Leningrada for a finish.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Sawa is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Leningrada is defending well though. Sawa let's go of the attempt for now.
Sawa misses with a punch to the head.
Jake Sawa overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Sawa is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Leningrada has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Sawa has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Leningrada taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Sawa doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jake Sawa!
