The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Leach, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Looney tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Leach swivels and escapes.
Leach rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Looney moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Leach lands a body shot.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Leach.
Leach rushes Looney and presses him up against the cage.
Looney is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Leach pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Leach breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Leach closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Carlton Leach seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Looney changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Leach tries to avoid it but Looney manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Leach to the ground. Leach escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chad Looney. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Looney dives in and grabs Leach's left leg, looking for a takedown. Leach pushes down on Looney's head and hops out.

Leach keeps the fight on the outside.
Looney leaves Leach with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Looney shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Leach as he jumps to the side.
Leach has managed to clinch.

Leach wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Leach lands a damaging elbow.
Leach wants to get back to striking at distance but Looney won't allow it.
Looney has Leach pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Looney pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Leach tumbling to the mat - Looney dives into Leach's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Looney postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Leach is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Looney, into his guard.
Leach has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Looney to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Leach is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Looney pulls down on the head and he's put Leach to sleep! This one is all over!
