PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Damon Pierce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Waters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pierce comes to the cage accompanied by Eve 6 - Inside Out. Waters is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Hip Hop. Damon Pierce has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Damon Pierce!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 1, fighting out of New York, Derek Waters!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Bruno Hogan and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pierce takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Waters throws a nice looking combination but Pierce bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Waters does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Pierce takes the fight into the clinch.
Pierce wants a takedown but no success here.
Pierce taking a breather.
Pierce can't get the takedown.
Pierce jumps guard but Waters stands there with Pierce around his waist. Pierce gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Damon Pierce. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pierce turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Pierce manages to end up in side control.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Pierce counters with a nice double leg into side control. Waters won't be happy with that.

You can see the frustration on Waters's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Waters is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Waters is not content to let Pierce control the position.
Pierce creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pierce wants to control but Waters is keeping him busy.
Waters gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Pierce lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Waters hang on?
Pierce punching from mount but Waters doing a good job of avoiding damage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Pierce lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Pierce is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Waters can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Waters wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Pierce.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Damon Pierce dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Pierce bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Pierce avoids the head kick by Waters.
Waters fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Pierce wants to clinch up but Waters keeps it at a distance.
Waters scores with a nice head shot.
Pierce doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Pierce tries to score a power double leg takedown but Waters sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Pierce somewhat.
Pierce slips under a jab from Waters.
Waters chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Waters misses with a looping right.
Pierce displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Waters throws out the jab.
Derek Waters seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Waters bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Waters connects with a nice looking jab.
Waters is looking to land body kicks.
Pierce is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Waters circles away from the clinch attempt.
Pierce throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Waters goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Pierce moves forwards but Waters connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Waters does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Waters loads up on a big right hand but Pierce slips the punch.
Waters lands with a nice body punch.
Pierce throws a body kick that misses.
An inside leg kick lands from Waters.
Waters throws out a loose jab but Pierce uses good head movement to avoid it.

Pierce has a takedown stuffed.
Waters moves out of range as Pierce throws a body kick.
Pierce is looking to clinch.
Pierce tries to land a front kick but Waters steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Waters lands a right hook to the body.
Pierce tries to clinch there but Waters circles away.
Derek Waters is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Waters fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pierce manages to avoid it.
A nice inside leg kick there by Waters. That's going to slow Pierce down.

Pierce is trying to control. Waters wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Waters is defending against the submission attempts here by Pierce.

The fighters are battling for position here. Waters manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Waters avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Waters is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Pierce stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Waters swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Pierce lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Waters wants to sweep here but Pierce controlling him for the moment.

Waters wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Derek Waters has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Pierce is looking to clinch but Waters is avoiding it.
Waters takes a swing at Pierce's ribcage but misses.
Pierce closes the distance and clinches up with Waters, looking for a takedown. Pierce pushes Waters against the cage but Waters circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Derek Waters showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Waters throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Pierce throws a half hearted mid kick.
Waters swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Pierce shoots in and bounces Waters off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Pierce is looking to work some ground and pound but Waters has wrist control.
Pierce looking to sit in guard and control but Waters gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Waters stands up and waves to Pierce to follow him.
Waters connects with a nice looking jab.

Pierce clinches.
Pierce drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Waters gets the underhooks and prevents it.
A left hand lands to the body for Waters.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Waters as Pierce tries to tie him up.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Pierce tries to pull guard but Waters won't allow it.
Pierce has Waters pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Waters manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Waters digs a good hook to Pierce's body.
Waters throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Pierce just misses with a punch to the body.
Waters throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A swing and a miss from Waters.
Waters throws a hook to the side of Pierce's head but Pierce sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Waters listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

Pierce changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Waters looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Pierce throws an elbow but Waters slips to the side and avoids it well.
Waters is trying to control Pierce's posture but Pierce avoids it.
A control attempt from Waters but he's now mounted!

Poor strikes thrown by Pierce there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Pierce throws some wild stikes that Waters manages to avoid easily.

Pierce lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Waters hang on?

Pierce landing shots from mount.
Pierce lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Waters is still in real trouble! Can Pierce finish him?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pierce softens up his opponent with a couple of shots there and then CRACK! One massive shot lands there and Waters is out cold! Pierce jumps to his feet and celebrates on the cage with the fans, who are, quite frankly, going absolutely mental!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Damon Pierce!
Damon Pierce very nearly forgot to thank Black Hand Alliance Only Laundry Service amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
