The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Shewmaker is defended easily by Makinwa.
Makinwa fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Shewmaker has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Shewmaker tries to move into range but Makinwa moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Shewmaker moves in looking to clinch but Makinwa pushes him off.
Makinwa misses with a jab, cross combination.
Makinwa throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Shewmaker looks for a takedown but Makinwa sprawls well.
Shewmaker looks to clinch
and Makinwa counters with a nice low kick that buckles Shewmaker's knee momentarily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Makinwa scores with a hook.
Makinwa lands a brutal uppercut that launches Shewmaker off his feet! Shewmaker tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!
