Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryuu Tatsuya! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Gabriel Kiptanui! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Ren Mimura and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tatsuya connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Tatsuya with a body punch. A glancing blow. Kiptanui has a takedown stuffed. Tatsuya slaps away a takedown attempt from Kiptanui, before circling back to the center of the mat. Tatsuya swings and misses with a shot to the body and Kiptanui counters by moving into the clinch. A short right from Tatsuya on the inside. Kiptanui has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Tatsuya is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Ryuu Tatsuya has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gabriel Kiptanui. Tatsuya tries to land a knee to the head but Kiptanui blocks with his arms.
Kiptanui jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Tatsuya walks away with a smile on his face. Kiptanui gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Tatsuya misses with a straight left. Tatsuya is looking to clinch. Tatsuya throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. A big left from Tatsuya misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kiptanui forces Tatsuya back against the cage and clinches. Kiptanui on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Kiptanui tries to score a body lock takedown but Tatsuya shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Kiptanui is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Tatsuya connects with a body shot. Kiptanui shoots in and drives through. Tatsuya sprawls well. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Tatsuya lands with a good body shot. Tatsuya lands a nice looking body kick. A solid leg kick lands there for Tatsuya.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tatsuya misses with a low kick. Kiptanui lands a nice hook to Tatsuya's body. Tatsuya takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Kiptanui looks for a takedown but Tatsuya sprawls well. Tatsuya fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kiptanui. Kiptanui shoots for a double leg takedown but Tatsuya sprawls well. He's pushed Kiptanui's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. A big right from Kiptanui misses. Kiptanui moves out of range as Tatsuya strikes. Kiptanui moves out of range of the leg kick from Tatsuya. No luck with that takedown attempt from Kiptanui. Ryuu Tatsuya has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gabriel Kiptanui. Tatsuya tries to clinch but Kiptanui moves out of range.

Tatsuya misses with a right hand and Kiptanui counters with a body kick. Tatsuya avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kiptanui displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Tatsuya throws out the jab. Tatsuya misses with a wild body shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A decent looking body kick lands there for Tatsuya. Tatsuya lands a nice leg kick that just misses Kiptanui's sensitive parts. Ryuu Tatsuya is winning the standup battle so far. Tatsuya loads up on a big right hand but Kiptanui slips the punch. Tatsuya scores with a body shot.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Kiptanui lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Tatsuya has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Tatsuya and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Tatsuya is looking to wear down Kiptanui with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Tatsuya dodges the punch combination from Kiptanui.
Tatsuya fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Ryuu Tatsuya seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tatsuya fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Kiptanui dives in and scores a takedown into Tatsuya's guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Tatsuya looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Tatsuya is looking to stand up but Kiptanui isn't so interested in that idea. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kiptanui closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Tatsuya quickly recovers to half guard. Kiptanui is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Ryuu Tatsuya has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Tatsuya wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Tatsuya moves out of range of the body kick from Kiptanui.
Tatsuya keeps the fight on the outside. Tatsuya moves in looking to clinch but Kiptanui pushes him off. Kiptanui shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tatsuya as he jumps to the side. Kiptanui shoots in for a double leg but Tatsuya sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Tatsuya scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Kiptanui doesn't seem bothered though. Gabriel Kiptanui has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Tatsuya throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Kiptanui on the side of the head. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Kiptanui fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Tatsuya avoids it really well and circles away. Kiptanui takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Tatsuya connects with a crisp jab.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Gabriel Kiptanui. I think Tatsuya has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
