PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Richard Pounder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergey Mikhalok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mikhalok is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Ты ни при чём?. Sergey Mikhalok will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Richard Pounder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergey Mikhalok!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Vladimir Khabensky and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mikhalok closes the distance and clinches up with Pounder, looking for a takedown. Mikhalok pushes Pounder against the ropes but Pounder circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mikhalok throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Mikhalok throws a right and a left that both miss.
Sergey Mikhalok seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mikhalok throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Pounder blocks the body kick.
Mikhalok tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pounder swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Mikhalok fails to land with a series of punches.
Mikhalok tries to score with a low kick but Pounder moves his leg out of the way.
Mikhalok tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Pounder paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Mikhalok throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pounder.
A punch combination from Mikhalok misses.
Mikhalok fails with the takedown

and Pounder counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mikhalok won't be happy with that.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Pounder wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mikhalok, who protects the arm well.
A lull in the action here as Pounder stalls from top position.

Mikhalok pushes Pounder away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Pounder gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Mikhalok is pushing Pounder's head away, looking to escape. Pounder manages to hold on to the position though.

Pounder is working to tighten is grip on Mikhalok's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Mikhalok has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Pounder is really squeezing tight and eventually Mikhalok passes out! Pounder breaks the hold and jumps onto the ropes to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
