PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jeranimo Milner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and BJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penn comes into a darkened arena with his song building. BJ Penn kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jeranimo Milner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, BJ Penn!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Milner decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Milner seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Penn makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Penn.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Milner stands up and waves to Penn to follow him.
Penn swats away the attempt to clinch by Milner.

Penn closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Penn is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Milner defends it well.
Penn prevents Milner from standing back up.
Milner on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Milner is looking to escape.
Penn looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Milner with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Penn passes to full mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Penn is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Milner is in real trouble.
Penn looks gassed!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Milner breaks Penn's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Milner won't allow Penn to sweep him here.

Milner stands up from Penn's guard - Milner perhaps looking for a knockout.
Penn tries for a takedown but Milner circles away easily
and Milner counters with a nice uppercut.
Milner looks to land a combination but Penn avoids it well.
Milner rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Penn moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Penn misses with a combination

and Milner decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Penn's guard.
Milner wants to stand but Penn has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Milner is looking to work some ground and pound but Penn has wrist control.
Milner wants to get up but he can't break Penn's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Penn not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Milner wanted to stand there but Penn had control of the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Penn tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Penn is looking for a triangle but Milner pushes his legs off easily.
Penn has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Penn working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Milner doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Milner manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Penn has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Milner should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Penn has tightened it up now! Milner should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
