PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jay McCoy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and JonJo Hynes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Hynes's choice of entrance music: Another brick in the wall. Jay McCoy has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jay McCoy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, JonJo Hynes!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Ackerman and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Hynes misses.
Hynes throws a right and a left that McCoy avoids nicely.
Hynes misses with a few strikes there.
JonJo Hynes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hynes uses good head movement to avoid the hook from McCoy.

Hynes throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
McCoy slips a jab and a cross from Hynes.
McCoy tries to work over Hynes's front leg with a kick but Hynes checks it.

McCoy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Hynes is trying to stand up here but McCoy is controlling him well.
Hynes has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McCoy is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

McCoy is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hynes is just riding it out for now. McCoy eventually gives up the hold.

McCoy bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
McCoy has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Hynes!
