Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Joahim Szlagier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ze Reaper!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Valeri Chadov and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Szlagier tries to score a power double leg takedown but Reaper sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Szlagier somewhat.
Szlagier fails to land with a series of punches.
Nice sprawl there from Reaper as Szlagier shoots in.
Szlagier connects with a leg kick. Reaper looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Szlagier fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Szlagier takes the fight into the clinch.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Szlagier.
Szlagier wants a takedown but no success here.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joahim Szlagier. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Reaper looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Szlagier stops a takedown attempt from Reaper.
Szlagier lands a body punch.

Szlagier manages to pull guard.

Reaper has gone for a leg lock! Szlagier slips out almost immediately though and dives into Reaper's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Szlagier is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Reaper is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Szlagier defends well.
Szlagier controls from within his opponent's guard.
Reaper tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Szlagier slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Reaper bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Szlagier's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Joahim Szlagier.
Szlagier shoots in but no luck this time.
Szlagier fails with a takedown attempt.

Reaper stuffs the takedown attempt from Szlagier. Szlagier gets slowly back to his feet.
Szlagier is breathing heavily.
Szlagier fails to land the takedown.
Szlagier throws a head kick that misses.
The fight stays on the outside here - Szlagier looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Szlagier rushes Reaper and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Reaper tries for a takedown. No joy.

Szlagier jumps guard and drags Reaper to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Reaper drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Szlagier dives on top into guard.
Reaper tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Reaper is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Szlagier is controlling Reaper's trapped leg to prevent Reaper from advancing to side control.

Reaper is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Szlagier is just riding it out for now. Reaper eventually gives up the hold.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Reaper is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Szlagier is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Ze Reaper!
