The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Leandro Rodrigues and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smolen takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Luke Noglia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smolen darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Smolen throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Noglia wants to improve his position but Smolen is controlling well.
Noglia knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smolen on the ground.

Noglia escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Smolen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smolen passes Noglia's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Smolen looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Noglia keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Smolen is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Smolen is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Noglia is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
