Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ob Ma!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Ortiz!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ma moves in looking to clinch but Ortiz pushes him off.
Ma could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Ma shoots for a takedown but Ortiz saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ma is defended easily by Ortiz.
Ortiz lands a head kick. Ma smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Ortiz bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Ma's head backwards.
Ortiz scores with a one two! Ma had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Ma drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Ma drops back looking for a leg! Ortiz is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ortiz manages to kick Ma off! Ma jumps back into Ortiz's guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. David Ortiz hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Ma has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Ortiz finds it's way round the side to connect with Ma's head.

Nice straight punches there by Ortiz. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Ortiz.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ma moves forwards but Ortiz connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Ma takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Ma takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Ma shoots in but no luck this time.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ortiz lands a head kick!
Ortiz shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Ma eats them both and turns towards Ortiz to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Ma.
Ma shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ortiz defends it nicely.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ma is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Ortiz keeping moving, preventing Ma from controlling successfully.
Ma might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Ortiz looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Ma puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Ma not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Ma is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Ma in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Ortiz tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Ma!
