Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Daisuke Minowa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Rodrigo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Minowa comes to the ring accompanied by Sunbeam - One Minute in Heaven. The crowd seem to be enjoying Rodrigo's choice of entrance music: Da Rockwilder. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Matt Rodrigo was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matt Rodrigo!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Leandro Rodrigues and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Minowa decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Minowa is looking for a kimura here.
Rodrigo won't allow Minowa to pass to mount.
Minowa passes to side control.
Minowa tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Minowa wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rodrigo, who protects the arm well.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Rodrigo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Minowa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Minowa is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rodrigo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Minowa tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Minowa has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Rodrigo prevents Minowa from improving position.
Rodrigo regains half guard.
Minowa stops Rodrigo from getting back to his feet.
Minowa is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Minowa is breathing heavily.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Minowa wants to work for an arm triangle but Rodrigo is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Minowa moves into full mount! Rodrigo won't be happy about that!
Rodrigo is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Minowa looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Rodrigo is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Minowa moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Rodrigo has worked his arm free - good work by Rodrigo!
Rodrigo wants to get back to his feet.

Rodrigo is trying to control Minowa's posture but Minowa avoids it.

Minowa tries to advance to mount but Rodrigo instead regains half guard.
Minowa is looking for submissions but instead, Rodrigo has regained full guard.
Rodrigo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Minowa drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Rodrigo manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Minowa has Rodrigo in his guard.

Rodrigo wants to control from the top but Minowa keeps moving.

Minowa tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Rodrigo wanted to stand there but Minowa had control of the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Rodrigo doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Minowa counters with a straight right hand.
Minowa connects with a nice looking jab.
Minowa swats away the attempt to clinch by Rodrigo.

and Minowa counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Rodrigo thinking.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Minowa throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Rodrigo is breathing heavily.
Minowa moves out of range of the leg kick from Rodrigo.
Minowa fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Rodrigo looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Minowa throws a series of punches but Rodrigo moves out of range.
Minowa throws a right and a left that Rodrigo avoids nicely.
Minowa stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Rodrigo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Matt Rodrigo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Minowa moves out of range as Rodrigo throws a body kick.
Rodrigo with a poor takedown
and Minowa counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Rodrigo!
Minowa is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Rodrigo is in real trouble.
Minowa is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Rodrigo with him. Rodrigo is trying to defend but Minowa has an arm under the chin now! Rodrigo grimaces and is forced to tap out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Daisuke Minowa!
