PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Frederick Finklestein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nicles Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Nicles Jones was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frederick Finklestein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nicles Jones!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Finklestein stuffs the takedown.
Finklestein wants to clinch up but Jones keeps it at a distance.
Finklestein tries to clinch but Jones moves out of range.
Finklestein tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jones paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Jones keeps the fight on the outside.
Finklestein is looking to clinch.
Jones shoots in but no luck this time.
Finklestein wants to clinch up but Jones keeps it at a distance.
Jones changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Finklestein tries to avoid it but Jones manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Finklestein to the ground. Finklestein escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Frederick Finklestein has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nicles Jones.

Jones feints and as Finklestein raises his hands in defense, Jones changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Finklestein throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Jones looking to sit in guard and control but Finklestein gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Jones looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Jones pushes Finklestein off and gets back to his feet.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Finklestein as he jumps to the side.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones has a takedown stuffed.
Nicles Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones looks gassed!
Finklestein tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Finklestein as he jumps to the side.

Finklestein closes the distance and clinches.
Finklestein tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Jones goes for a takedown attempt but Finklestein pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Jones shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Finklestein pinned against the cage. Finklestein gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Finklestein moves into range and clinches up with Jones.
Finklestein misses with a knee strike.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Finklestein throws a knee to the head but misses.

Jones wants the takedown. Finklestein is fighting it off but Jones persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Finklestein's guard against the cage.
Finklestein looking for a sweep. Not yet Finklestein, not yet.
Finklestein not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Finklestein working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Jones.
Jones wants to control from the top but Finklestein keeps moving.
Finklestein striking off his back but it's not causing Jones any problems.

Finklestein is looking for a triangle but Jones pushes his legs off easily.
Finklestein throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jones shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Finklestein but Finklestein pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Jones tries for a takedown but Finklestein sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jones swats away the attempt to clinch by Finklestein.
Finklestein wants to clinch up but Jones keeps it at a distance.
Finklestein tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jones swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Jones looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Finklestein is fending him off so far but Jones persists. Nope, Finklestein circles away and we're back to standing.

Jones shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Jones was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Jones looking to finish with strikes here!
Finklestein is wriggling around trying to escape.

Jones has hold of Finklestein's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Finklestein manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Finklestein is working to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Finklestein has left one of his arms exposed and Jones doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Finklestein screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Nicles Jones!
