Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ash Campbell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ian Phillips (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Campbell's entrance music is Sun Poison and Skin Cancer. A fine choice. Ash Campbell is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ash Campbell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ian Phillips!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Seu Braga and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Campbell looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Phillips is fending him off so far but Campbell persists. Nope, Phillips circles away and we're back to standing.
Phillips checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Campbell throws a hook but Phillips blocks it.
That kick from Phillips tenderised Campbell's leg. Campbell is trying to keep his angry face on.
Phillips misses with a looping right.

Campbell closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Campbell tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Phillips tries to improve position but can't.
The ground and pound from Campbell seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Phillips dodges the ground and pound from Campbell.
Campbell fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Campbell throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Phillips manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Phillips slips a nice elbow through Campbell's hands, connecting with Campbell's forehead.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Phillips looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Campbell with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Phillips thows a huge punch but Campbell dodges it nicely.

Campbell regains half guard there - taking advantage of Phillips's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Campbell wants to pass the guard but Phillips is keeping the position.

Phillips had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Campbell defends it easily.
Campbell throws a big right hand that misses.
Phillips looking to hit a scissor sweep but Campbell is one step ahead there.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Campbell keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Phillips's head.

That was a close round but I would say that Ash Campbell will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Campbell closes the distance and clinches up with Phillips, looking for a takedown. Campbell pushes Phillips against the cage but Phillips circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Campbell misses the shot to the body.
Phillips's jab looks to have found its range, popping Campbell under the eye.
Phillips uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Campbell has time to react.
Phillips tries to close the distance and clinch up but Campbell swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Phillips tests Campbell's chin there with a solid looking shot.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Phillips accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Phillips drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Phillips jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Ian Phillips hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Phillips is staying tight to Campbell's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Campbell is working to avoid the ground and pound but Phillips connects with a decent elbow.

Ian Phillips comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Phillips has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
