Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Blazej Augustyn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kaleo Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Paul Gruel and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes lands a nice shot that snaps Augustyn's head back.

Hughes forces Augustyn back against the cage and clinches.

Hughes turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Hughes manages to end up in side control.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Augustyn tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Hughes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Augustyn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Augustyn is working hard here to advance position.
Augustyn manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Augustyn might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Augustyn tries to get to full guard but Hughes has control of the leg.
Augustyn is trying to maintain the position but Hughes is very close to passing his half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Augustyn works his way to full guard. Good work.
Hughes must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Augustyn manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hughes manages to get himself to full guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hughes can do anything to dispel that myth.

Augustyn postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hughes is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Augustyn, into his guard.
Augustyn is breathing heavily.

Augustyn has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Hughes is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Augustyn.
Hughes wants to stand but Augustyn has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Hughes is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Augustyn has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Hughes is looking to defend but Augustyn has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Hughes! Augustyn pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Hughes taps out and this one is all over!
