PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight kickboxing rules bout between Uncle Ben (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the ring it seems that Uncle Ben has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Uncle Ben seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Uncle Ben!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Walker!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Nard Betker and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Walker gets tackled into the ropes by Ben. Ben maintains the clinch.

Ben escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Walker avoids the head kick by Ben.
Walker is looking to score with low kicks.
Walker avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Nice jab there from Walker.
Walker misses with a jab, cross combination.
Walker tries to bum rush Ben with a series of wild strikes but Ben uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Ben fails with an attempt to clinch.
Walker lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ben circles away quickly and effectively.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Ben escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ben throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Walker.
Walker tries to work over Ben's front leg with a kick but Ben checks it.
Ben's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Walker connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Ben scrambles back to his feet.
Ben misses with the combination.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Walker moves into range and connects with a jab.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Walker connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Walker fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A slow jab from Walker misses its intended target.
A head kick misses from Walker.
Walker misses with a wild combination.

Ben gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Ben misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Walker.
Walker throws a head punch that misses.
Walker has had enough of the clinch but Ben keeps him there for the moment.
Walker swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Ben has Walker pushed against the ropes.
The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Ben for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

Ben pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Ben fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Walker, pushing him back against the ropes.
Ben displaying some good clinch control by pressing Walker up against the ropes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A head punch on the inside from Walker fails to land.
Ben lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Walker tries to work over Ben's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Ben breaks from the clinch.
Walker throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ben.
Walker will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Walker throws a head kick but Ben moves out of range.
Ben keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Ben rushes Walker and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Walker fails to land.
Ben keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Walker's efforts to push away.

Ben breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
John Walker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ben fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Walker, pushing him back against the ropes.
The fighters are pressed against the ropes, as the pace of the fight slows.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ben stalling in the clinch but Walker improves position.
A bit of stalling here from Ben.
Ben is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the ropes.
Ben manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Uncle Ben.
Walker misses with a jab, cross combination.
Ben avoids a punch combination nicely.
Walker gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Walker misses with a looping right.
Walker looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Walker clips Ben with a right and a left that makes him do the chicken dance for a couple of seconds. He touched his left hand down on the canvas so the referee steps between the fighters to give Ben a standing 8 count before we can continue the bout.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Ben avoids a punch combination nicely.

Ben clinches.
Ben will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Walker up against the ropes.

Ben breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Walker blocks a head kick by Ben.
A leg kick checked by Walker.
Ben misses with a body kick.
Walker scores with a jab to the body.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Walker throws a good cross that connects.
John Walker is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A combination from Ben does no damage.
Some wild striking there from Walker.
Walker scores with a jab. Ben acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Having scored a knockdown, John Walker should take round 1, putting pressure on his opponene back strong in round 2.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.


A big right followed by a crushing left from Walker knocks Ben out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!
