The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Piquette lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Piquette connects with a right hand. Stamkos shakes it off.
Horrible takedown by Stamkos or perhaps it was just good defense by Piquette which made him look bad.
Stamkos shoots in looking for a takedown but Piquette manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Stamkos's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Stamkos shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Stamkos showed some decent athleticism there.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Piquette is trying to get back to full guard.
Piquette knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stamkos on the ground.

Stamkos is trying for a kimura here. Piquette looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Stamkos wins by kimura!
