Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Matt Steele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Iain Wingell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Matt Steele!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Iain Wingell!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wingell connects with a solid leg kick.
Steele will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Wingell feints and then cracks Steele's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Steele down.
Steele shoots for a takedown but Wingell saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Steele crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Wingell - the referee stops the clock and Steele gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Wingell. Steele manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Wingell lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Steele bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Wingell's guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Steele won't allow Wingell to get back to his feet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wingell can do anything to dispel that myth.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Steele wants to control from the top but Wingell keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Matt Steele just wasn't active enough.
Wingell thuds his right hand into Steele's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Steele closes the distance and clinches.

Steele manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That was a close round but I would say that Matt Steele will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
