PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brad Hallow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Chimpo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hallow comes to the cage accompanied by Hells Bells - AC/DC. Chimpo has chosen 8 second ride as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brad Hallow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johnny Chimpo!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Dean Styles and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hallow changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Chimpo tries to avoid it but Hallow manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Chimpo to the ground. Chimpo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Chimpo tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Hallow connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Chimpo momentarily.


It looks like Johnny Chimpo has been cut.

Chimpo pushes Hallow up against the cage in a clinch.
Chimpo misses with some punches.
Hallow scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Hallow tries for a takedown but Chimpo manages to get underhooks.

Chimpo is rocked!
Hallow lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Chimpo backwards.
Chimpo is still on wobbly legs! Can Hallow finish him?

Hallow pulls guard effortlessly.

Chimpo wanted to stand there but Hallow had control of the position.

Chimpo seems to have recovered his senses.
Chimpo is looking to work some ground and pound but Hallow has wrist control.

Chimpo stands and throws Hallow's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Chimpo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hallow keeps working.
Hallow sneaks back into half guard.
Chimpo content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hallow on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Chimpo missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Chimpo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Hallow keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Chimpo thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Hallow to regain full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Chimpo throws and elbow that misses. Hallow uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Chimpo's guard. Nice move by Hallow!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Chimpo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Brad Hallow will probably get the nod.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Hallow will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Hallow swats away the attempt to clinch by Chimpo.
Chimpo fails to land the takedown.
Chimpo wants to clinch up but Hallow keeps it at a distance.
Chimpo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hallow swats him away and circles back towards the center.
The fight stays on the outside here - Chimpo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hallow throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Chimpo shoots in for a double leg but Hallow sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hallow misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
No joy there for Hallow, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Hallow throws a series of punches but Chimpo avoids them all with ease.
Chimpo looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Hallow ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Hallow looks to land a combination but Chimpo avoids it well.

and Chimpo counters with a single leg into guard. Hallow didn't expect that.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Chimpo wants to control from the top but Hallow keeps moving.
Chimpo in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Let's hope that Chimpo has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Chimpo chips away with some ground and pound.
Chimpo works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Hallow trying to control but Chimpo postures up.
Hallow keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Hallow wants to improve his position but Chimpo is controlling well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Chimpo thows a huge punch but Hallow dodges it nicely.
Chimpo is looking to take a break and control but Hallow is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hallow won't allow Chimpo to pass to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnny Chimpo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Chimpo shoots in looking for a takedown. Hallow tries to sprawl out of it but Chimpo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hallow manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Hallow misses with a two punch combination.
Hallow cracks Chimpo with an open hand slap.

Chimpo has taken the fight to the clinch.
Hallow wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Hallow drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hallow blocks an elbow strike.
Hallow is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Chimpo pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Chimpo lands a nice elbow.
Chimpo prevents Hallow from breaking the clinch.
Chimpo lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Chimpo lands a nice elbow from the clinch.

Chimpo is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Chimpo slips a jab and a cross from Hallow.
Chimpo fails with a takedown attempt.
Hallow rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Chimpo moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Chimpo shoots for a double leg takedown but Hallow sprawls well. He's pushed Chimpo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Brad Hallow has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Chimpo.
Chimpo tries to clinch but Hallow is having none of it.
Chimpo avoids a punch combination nicely.
Hallow ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Chimpo moves away.
Chimpo lands a jab-cross combination.

and Chimpo counters with a HUGE slam that knocks Hallow out cold!!! When he eventually wakes up, that one's gunna hurt!
