PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fred Boyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donny Dane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dane comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Candy Paint kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 20 - 2, fighting out of London, Fred Boyle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Donny Dane!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, William Gold and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dane looks to land a combination but Boyle avoids it well.
Dane punishes Boyle's body with a nice straight punch.
Dane throws a left and a right that both miss

and Boyle counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Boyle throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Dane is staying active underneath Boyle, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Boyle not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Boyle is trying to work for a kimura but Dane is defending well.

Boyle wants to free his trapped foot but Dane is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Dane looks like he's trying to stand up.

Boyle has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Boyle seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Dane does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Fred Boyle.

Dane throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Boyle sees it coming and avoids it easily.

A clash of legs there as Dane blocks the low kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Boyle gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Dane.
Dane throws a hook but Boyle avoids it easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Boyle closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Boyle throws a body punch but Dane moves out of range.
Boyle shoots in for a double leg but Dane sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Dane's jab looks to have found its range, popping Boyle under the eye.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Dane fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Boyle dodges the punch combination from Dane.
Boyle shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Dane as he jumps to the side.

Dane lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Dane looks to land a left hand but Boyle moved out of range nicely.

Boyle shoots in for a takedown but Dane shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Donk. Dane catches Boyle right on the button with a cross.
Donny Dane is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Horrible takedown by Boyle or perhaps it was just good defense by Dane which made him look bad.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dane's jab looks to have found its range, popping Boyle under the eye.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Donny Dane showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Dane shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Boyle eats them both and turns towards Dane to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Dane stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Dane wants it to stay on the feet.
Dane connects with a good right hand that stumbles Boyle. Boyle circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Boyle throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Donny Dane seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Dane throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Dane throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Boyle counters with a straight right hand.

Boyle displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Dane throws out the jab.

No joy there for Dane, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Boyle throws a low kick but it's checked well by Dane.
Boyle tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dane sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Boyle somewhat.

enabling Boyle to counter with a crisp jab.

Dane bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Dane lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Dane cracks Boyle with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Boyle shoots in for a double leg but Dane sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Dane throws a combination. Boyle tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Boyle counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Dane feints a jab promting Boyle to slip. Dane then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Boyle slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Dane works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Boyle looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Dane pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Boyle back to the cage. Dane follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Dane looks to throw the jab but Boyle is out of range.
Dane avoids a punch combination nicely.
Boyle takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Donny Dane comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Dane has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Donny Dane opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
