Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Akihiro Shirasu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Akihiro Shirasu has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Akihiro Shirasu seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Akihiro Shirasu! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matt Machida! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shirasu feints and as Machida raises his hands in defense, Shirasu changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Shirasu wants to pass the guard but Machida is keeping the position. Shirasu decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Shirasu fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Machida to the ground. Shirasu is now in Machida's guard. Shirasu gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Some wild striking there from Machida.
Machida misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Shirasu gets a takedown into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Still in half guard, Shirasu seems content to control. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Akihiro Shirasu. Shirasu scores with a takedown into Machida's guard. Shirasu controls the pace of the fight for a moment. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Akihiro Shirasu just wasn't active enough. A head kick misses from Machida. Machida throws a right and a left that Shirasu avoids nicely. Machida misses with a double jab.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shirasu decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Shirasu prevents Machida from standing back up.
Shirasu wants to free his trapped foot but Machida is holding on for dear life with his legs. Shirasu is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Machida sees it coming and defends easily. Shirasu stands up from half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shirasu looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Shirasu not landing any meaningful shots this time. Shirasu content to control rather than advance. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Akihiro Shirasu dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Machida avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Shirasu looking to score a takedown here. Machida is defending well but Shirasu drives through and ends up in Machida's guard. Shirasu wants to stand but Machida is controlling his posture from full guard. Shirasu looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Shirasu fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Machida sprawls well initially but Shirasu persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Shirasu moves into full mount! Machida won't be happy about that! Shirasu raining down hammerfists from mount. Shirasu takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Akihiro Shirasu overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shirasu lands with some strikes.
It looks like Matt Machida has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Shirasu cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Shirasu is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Machida to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Machida shrugs it off.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shirasu throwing strikes here but Machida is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Shirasu is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Machida can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
That has opened up Matt Machida's cut even more. Shirasu controlling the position easily from mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shirasu lands a heavy elbow.
The cut above Matt Machida's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Matt Machida's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Akihiro Shirasu! After winning the bout, Akihiro Shirasu thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
