Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Luta Livre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mahdi Makungu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Makungu is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Nelly - Heart of a Champion. Mahdi Makungu told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Luta Livre!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

25 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Mahdi Makungu!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Anni Minnemäki and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Livre tries a head kick but it misses.
Some wild striking there from Livre.
Makungu tests Livre's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Makungu fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Livre looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Livre misses with a few strikes there.
Makungu throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Livre stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Makungu clinches.
Makungu pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Livre throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Makungu.
Makungu tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Makungu takes a swing at Livre's ribcage but misses.
Makungu avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Makungu lands a head shot.

Livre is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Makungu.

and Makungu counters with a lovely straight right hand!
A jab from Makungu finds it's way through Livre's defenses.
Makungu jabs Livre right on the nose. Livre blinks but takes it well.
Livre doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Livre fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

and Makungu holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Makungu has hold of one of Livre's legs. Livre is fighting the takedown attempt but Makungu gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

You can see the frustration on Livre's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Makungu wants to lay and pray for a moment but Livre keeps working.

Livre tries to bench press Makungu off him but Makungu keeps the position.
Makungu in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Makungu looks up at the clock and then as Livre takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Makungu smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Makungu just content to control the position.
You can see the frustration on Livre's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Makungu scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Livre to see if he's OK.

Livre takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Makungu creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Livre tries to bench press Makungu off him but Makungu keeps the position.

Makungu lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Livre down.
Makungu takes a little break here. Livre wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Makungu cracks Livre with a big elbow.
Livre is looking to regain half guard here but Makungu keeps moving and retains side control.
Makungu in side control lands a decent elbow.
Makungu grinds an elbow into Livre's temple.

Makungu lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Livre is rocked!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Makungu lands a couple of good shots and Livre has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Oh Livre is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Makungu has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Livre.
Makungu is trying to stick to Livre's back but Livre is turning into Makungu. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Makungu's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Livre.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mahdi Makungu dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Makungu misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Livre.
Livre seems to have got his legs back now.
Makungu scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Livre finds himself stumbling back on wobbly legs after being clipped by a right hand. He's up against the cage, ducking and weaving under Makungu's strikes but an uppercut finds it's way through and Livre falls! - He's completely out of it and the ref jumps in to save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mahdi Makungu!
