Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Cong Mao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bj Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penn has chosen BJ Penn as his entrance music. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cong Mao! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
27 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bj Penn! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, John Kavanagh and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mao waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Penn. Mao on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Penn. Penn obviously looking to wear him down.
Penn thows a body shot but no joy. Mao throws a big shot that misses. Mao lands a right hook to the body.
Mao fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Mao closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Penn quickly recovers to half guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Mao seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Mao not doing much here.
Mao thows a huge punch but Penn dodges it nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Penn is pressing down on Mao's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Penn is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mao wants to get up but he can't break Penn's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Mao looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Penn looking for a sweep. Not yet Penn, not yet. Mao throws a big right hand that misses. Penn striking off his back but it's not causing Mao any problems. Mao wants to control from the top but Penn keeps moving. Mao has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Cong Mao just wasn't active enough. Penn fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mao manages to avoid it. Penn scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Penn waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Mao. Mao checks a low kick from Penn. Penn stuffs the takedown. Mao looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Penn bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mao's guard. Mao wants to sweep but no luck. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Penn wants to control from the top but Mao keeps moving. Penn missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Mao wants to improve his position but instead Penn has moved into half guard.
Penn is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mao sees it coming and defends easily. Penn not landing any meaningful shots this time. Mao on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Mao tries to get out of the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Penn stops Mao from getting back to his feet.
Penn perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Penn stops Mao from getting back to his feet.
Penn missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Mao knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Penn on the ground. Penn looks to land a strike but Mao avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Penn landing some decent shots from guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mao can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Penn controls the pace. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Bj Penn will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
Mao tries for a takedown but Penn sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Mao moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Mao gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Mao has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Penn finds it's way round the side to connect with Mao's head. Penn darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Mao doesn't succeed with the takedown and Penn counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Penn defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mao. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cong Mao. That's going to take a lot out of him. Penn swings for the body but Mao moves out of range.
Penn thumps Mao with a low kick. Mao misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Penn ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mao moves away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mao takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Mao looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Penn is fending him off so far but Mao persists. Nope, Penn circles away and we're back to standing. Penn with a body punch. A glancing blow. Mao's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Penn connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Mao scrambles back to his feet. Mao moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Penn throws a body punch but Mao moves out of range. Penn misses with a looping left. Penn thows a body shot but no joy. Penn has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Penn ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Bj Penn is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Nice cross by Penn. Penn misses with a jab to the body
and Mao connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Penn misses with a body shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mao misses with a takedown attempt and Penn counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Mao takes one on the button. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mao fails with the takedown. Mao looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Penn is fending him off so far but Mao persists. Nope, Penn circles away and we're back to standing. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Mao keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Penn throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Penn throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mao avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Penn throws a body punch but Mao moves out of range. Penn throws a looping overhand right but Mao ducks down to avoid it. Cong Mao is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Penn leaves Mao with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Bj Penn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mao doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Penn thows a body shot but no joy. Mao gets a double leg takedown into Penn's guard. Penn utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Penn is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
This has been an exciting period of action! Penn manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mao manages to get himself to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Penn trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Mao keeping moving, preventing Penn from controlling successfully. Penn keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Mao's head. Penn is in close to Mao's body, working some short punches and elbows. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Mao working a defensive guard but Penn manages to pass into side control anyway.

Bj Penn showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

That's one minute gone in the round. Good exchange - Penn coming out on top. Penn digs a good body shot into Mao's ribs. Mao shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Penn as he avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cong Mao. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mao drops his hands momentarily and Penn takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Penn throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Mao moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Mao shoots in looking for a takedown but Penn manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mao's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Decent striking displayed by Mao there. Penn pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Penn is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Mao rather than just go for the knockout. Penn lands the left hand. Penn tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mao was well out of range. Poor timing from Penn. Mao shoots in for a double leg but Penn sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Penn throws a nice inside leg kick. Penn lands with a good body shot. Penn scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mao tries to land a front kick but Penn steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Penn misses the shot to the body. Penn scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Mao doesn't seem bothered though. Penn scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Mao fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Penn jabs Mao to the body, keeping him at a distance. Mao misses with a takedown attempt - Penn sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Bj Penn seems to be getting the better of the standup. A jab lands there for Penn.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Penn throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mao takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. A cross from Penn lands. No luck for Mao with that takedown attempt. Penn dips to his left and cracks Mao with an uppercut! Mao slips a straight right by Penn. Penn lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Mao uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Penn. Mao closes this distance looking for a takedown but Penn circles away. Mao tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Penn smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Penn moves into range and connects with a jab. Good standup being displayed there by Penn as he connects with a hook. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mao slips a jab from Penn. Penn cracks Mao with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. A cross from Penn lands. Mao uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Penn.
No luck for Mao with that takedown attempt. An inside leg kick lands from Penn. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Penn cracks Mao with an open hand slap. Cong Mao has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Bj Penn is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Mao misses the jab.
And that's the end of the fight! Bj Penn comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Penn has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
