The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Alyssa Summers and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoffman scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Benitez doesn't seem bothered though.
Benitez shoots in and bounces Hoffman off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Hoffman is looking to stand up but Benitez isn't so interested in that idea.
Benitez loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Hoffman wants to stand but Benitez is controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hoffman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Benitez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

and Hoffman counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Benitez is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hoffman sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Benitez looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Guillermo Benitez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hoffman lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Hoffman misses with the combination.
Benitez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hoffman tries to avoid it but Benitez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hoffman to the ground. Hoffman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Hoffman throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Benitez.
Hoffman shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Benitez eats them both and turns towards Hoffman to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Benitez dives in and grabs Hoffman's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hoffman pushes down on Benitez's head and hops out.
A shot to the liver by Hoffman. Beautiful body shot.
A punch combination from Hoffman misses.
Hoffman lands a left and a right that send Benitez crashing to the mat, dazed. Hoffman thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Benitez is rocked!
It looks like Guillermo Benitez has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Benitez avoids a punch combination nicely.
Oh Benitez is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Benitez is defended easily by Hoffman.
Benitez seems to have got his legs back now.
Hoffman rushes Benitez with punches - Benitez moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Benitez goes down! Hoffman follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jack Hoffman!
A relieved looking Jack Hoffman thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
