PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justin Vallefort (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mason comes to the cage accompanied by Slayer-Dead Skin Mask. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mark Mason!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Justin Vallefort!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Paulo Santos and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mason swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Vallefort walks into a stiff left hand from Mason.
Vallefort lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mason circles away quickly and effectively.
Mason scores with a nice strike.
Vallefort checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Mason throws out a leg kick but Vallefort moves out of range and Mason only half commits.
A combination from Mason does no damage.
Mason throws a lazy head kick
and Vallefort counters with a low kick, right behind Mason 's knee.
Mason throws a body punch but Vallefort moves out of range.
Mason lands a really nice looking cross but Vallefort seems unphased.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Vallefort gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Vallefort closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Vallefort has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Vallefort there as he acknowledges the shot.
Good exchange - Mason coming out on top.

Vallefort walks into a straight right hand from Mason.

Nice combo by Mason! Oh, that's hurt him - Vallefort falls to the canvas and Mason follows him into side control.


Vallefort is rocked!


It looks like Justin Vallefort has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Vallefort tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Mason throws an elbow but Vallefort slips to the side and avoids it well.
Vallefort is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Mason is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Vallefort will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Vallefort is working to avoid the ground and pound but Mason connects with a decent elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mason remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

We're going to have a standup here because Mark Mason wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Vallefort tries for a takedown but Mason sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Vallefort drops his hands momentarily and Mason takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Mason lands a body shot.
Mason throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Vallefort stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Vallefort looks winded!
Mason lands a nice looking body shot.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Vallefort walks into a stiff left hand from Mason.
Mason lands a head shot.
Mason jabs Vallefort to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Oh, that's a big right hand from Mason and Vallefort goes tumbling to the canvas! Mason follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mason connects with a nice short shot to Vallefort's temple.
It looks like Mason is going to stand back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mason controlling the action here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Mark Mason.
Mason sizes up Vallefort with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Mason looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Mason is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Mason stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vallefort swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Mason slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Mason connects with a single shot there.
Vallefort shoots for a double leg takedown but Mason sprawls well. He's pushed Vallefort's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Vallefort fails with the takedown.
Mason dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Mark Mason is winning the standup battle so far.
Mason cracks Vallefort with a right hand to the side of the head.


That has opened up Justin Vallefort's cut even more.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mark Mason has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Justin Vallefort.

Vallefort ducks straight into an uppercut from Mason and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Vallefort manages to regain guard straight away.
Vallefort is still in real trouble! Can Mason finish him?
Mason lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Vallefort should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Mason postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Vallefort covers up, he's hurt! Mason keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Mason and the ref steps in to end the fight! Mason can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mark Mason!
Mark Mason made sure to give a little speech post fight, saying 'I just want to say thanks to my team back in Cali, Full Affliction, and RFC for letting me fight here!'.
