Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, James Lee! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lee throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Diaz's head. Lee displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Diaz. Diaz swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Lee clobbers Diaz with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Diaz misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A good leg kick by Lee. Nice straight punches there by Lee. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Lee. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Lee, right into the meat.
Diaz wants to clinch. Lee stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lee wants it to stay on the feet. Lee scoring well with a low kick there.
Nick Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Diaz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lee as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick Diaz. That's going to take a lot out of him. Some wild striking there from Diaz.
Lee connects with an inside leg kick. James Lee is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lee goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Lee dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Diaz misses with a head kick.
Diaz shoots and misses and Lee counters with a low kick, right behind Diaz 's knee. Diaz is breathing heavily. Lee circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Diaz drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Lee follows Diaz to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Lee! James Lee spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
