PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Takesure Nwagou (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Filip Rumia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Takesure Nwagou!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Filip Rumia!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Radbod Blank and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rumia tries to clinch but Nwagou moves out of range.
Nwagou fails with the takedown
and Rumia makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Nwagou really felt that one!

Rumia takes the fight into the clinch.

Rumia escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nwagou with a poor takedown
and Rumia counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Rumia pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nwagou shoots for a takedown but Rumia saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Takesure Nwagou. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nwagou wants to control but Rumia is keeping busy.

Rumia is trying to control the action in half guard but Nwagou is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Rumia seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Filip Rumia.

Rumia shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Nwagou napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Nwagou is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Nwagou is looking to control Rumia's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Nwagou avoid being mounted?

Nwagou has Rumia pulled in close to control his posture.
Nwagou tries to land a sweep but no joy.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nwagou wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Rumia is now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nwagou feints and as Rumia raises his hands in defense, Nwagou changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Nwagou is really struggling to control Rumia but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Rumia has his foot on Nwagou's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nwagou works his way back into a safe position though.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Takesure Nwagou just wasn't active enough.
Nwagou tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rumia swivels and escapes.
Takesure Nwagou is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Nwagou shoots in looking for a takedown. Rumia tries to sprawl out of it but Nwagou keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rumia manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Rumia uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Nwagou.

and Rumia counters with a good low kick that Nwagou was not able to check.

Takesure Nwagou overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rumia trying to control but Nwagou is working from the bottom.

Rumia is trying to control. Nwagou wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Nwagou has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rumia is working away from the top position though.

Rumia is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Rumia tries to stand but can't do so whilst Nwagou controls his leg.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Filip Rumia wasn't active enough on the ground.
A combination from Rumia does no damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Filip Rumia will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Nwagou's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Nwagou gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Rumia wants to pass the guard but Nwagou is keeping the position.
Rumia must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Nwagou throws his legs up looking for a submission but Rumia uses it to pass to side control.
Rumia wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nwagou keeps working.
Nwagou wants to control but Rumia postures up.

Nwagou is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Rumia is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Nwagou tries to bench press Rumia off him but Rumia keeps the position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Nwagou slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Rumia wants to take a breather but Nwagou is having none of it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rumia wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nwagou keeps working.
Nwagou wants to control but Rumia postures up.
Nwagou looks to move to half guard but instead Rumia has passed into mount! Damn!
Rumia controlling the pace for now.
Rumia lands a big shot there that rocks Nwagou but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Rumia avoids the attempt from Nwagou to control.
Nwagou really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Nwagou wants to hold on but Rumia pushes him away.
Nwagou is looking to improve his position but Rumia isn't that keen on the idea.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Takesure Nwagou.
I think Rumia has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
