Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dougie Atlas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitch James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dougie Atlas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mitch James!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Atlas throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. James tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Atlas is in James's guard.
James keeping moving, preventing Atlas from controlling successfully.
James trying to keep a closed guard but Atlas is proving a slippery customer.
Atlas stopping the sweep attempt from James.
Atlas looking to sit in guard and control but James gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
James pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Atlas is keeping the position for now.

James decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Atlas, up you get!

James changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Atlas looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

James wants to stand but Atlas is controlling his arm.
Atlas stops James from passing to mount.

Atlas tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Atlas wants to control but James postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
James slaps away a takedown attempt from Atlas, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Atlas drives through with a takedown into James's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Atlas pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. James is keeping the position for now.
Atlas connects with a couple of short punches.

James is looking for a triangle but Atlas pushes his legs off easily.

Atlas could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Atlas wants to pass the guard but James is keeping the position.

Atlas got a little sloppy there for a moment and James has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Atlas has managed to get both his arms back between James's legs - danger averted.
James looks winded!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
James has a closed guard, preventing Atlas from standing up.
James is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James stuffs the takedown attempt from Atlas. Atlas gets slowly back to his feet.

James gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
James looking to hit a scissor sweep but Atlas is one step ahead there.

Dougie Atlas has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
James keeps the fight on the outside.

James has taken the fight to the clinch.
James misses with a knee strike.
Atlas is trying to work for a single leg takedown but James pulls him back up using the underhooks.

James wants the takedown. Atlas is fighting it off but James persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Atlas's guard against the cage.
James passes Atlas's left leg - he's now in half guard.
James wants to free his trapped foot but Atlas is holding on for dear life with his legs.

James stalling away here and it's allowed Atlas to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
James wants to stand but Atlas is controlling his posture from full guard.

James wants to stand but Atlas has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as James accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Mitch James hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Atlas shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
James wants to control but Atlas is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Atlas not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Atlas is looking to take a break and control but James is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Atlas wants to pass the guard but James is defending well.

James is defending against the submission attempts here by Atlas.
James wants to get back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Atlas wants to take a breather but James is having none of it.

James pushes Atlas off and gets back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dougie Atlas will probably get the nod.
That's time! Atlas's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Atlas fails with an attempt to clinch.
Atlas shoots in and drives through. James sprawls well.

Atlas closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming James to the mat! James manages to get full guard.

James is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Atlas prevents James from getting back to his feet.

Atlas is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! James is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! James has escaped and now he's on top!
Atlas manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Atlas moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, James has worked his arm free - good work by James!

Atlas is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. James knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
James manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Atlas is sneakily working for an arm triangle but James sees it coming and defends easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
James wants to control but Atlas is keeping busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Atlas wants to lay and pray for a moment but James keeps working.

James is defending against the submission attempts here by Atlas.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Atlas thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed James's head.

Atlas is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Atlas prevents James from standing back up.
Atlas is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for James!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Atlas goes for an armbar but James turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from James.
James is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Atlas on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Atlas tries to get out of the position.
Atlas is trying to keep James in close.
Atlas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

James stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Atlas swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Atlas tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Dougie Atlas wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Atlas gets a takedown into half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
James tries to roll over but Atlas keeps him under control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dougie Atlas showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Atlas, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
