Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Money Man (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Shafer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shafer has chosen Big Shit Poppin as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. This should be a great matchup!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shafer swinging wildly here.
Man closes the distance and clinches up with Shafer, looking for a takedown. Man pushes Shafer against the cage but Shafer circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Man fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Shafer connects with a jab. Horrible takedown by Man or perhaps it was just good defense by Shafer which made him look bad. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Money Man. That's going to take a lot out of him. Shafer throws a series of punches but Man avoids them all with ease. Shafer leaves Man with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Money Man seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Man shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Shafer napping and manages to drive through into side control! Shafer dodges the ground and pound from Man. Man is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Shafer's shoulder. That is not cool. Man's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Man working the head and body with strikes. Man takes a little break here. Shafer wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Man lands an elbow. Man slows the pace down. Man has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shafer tries to escape but Man is in control. Man has knee on belly and moves into mount. Shafer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Man. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Man unloading with bombs! Man dominating with strikes here. Shafer is in a horrible position here. Man smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Man is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Shafer can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Man controlling his opponent. Man pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Shafer tries to lock up and control but Man gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Shafer stuffs the takedown. Man misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Man shoots in and drives through. Shafer sprawls well. Man tries for a takedown but Shafer sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Money Man. That's going to take a lot out of him. Man fails with the takedown and Shafer cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Man shoots in looking for a takedown. Shafer tries to sprawl out of it but Man keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shafer manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Shafer throws a right and a left that Man avoids nicely. Man shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Shafer but Shafer pushes him off and we're back to square one. Nice takedown defense from Shafer. No joy for Man on that attempt.

That's better than Man was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Shafer is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Man slows the pace down. Shafer wants to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Man just content to control the position. Man trying to control the position but Shafer is working away. Man cracks Shafer with an elbow. That is naaassty. Shafer is trying to escape the position but Man is controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Man wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shafer keeps working. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Man landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Shafer is not content to let Man control the position. Man tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Man in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Man advances nicely into full mount. Man controlling from the full mount. Man scores with a couple of good head shots there.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Man thows a huge punch but Shafer dodges it nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Man wants to work for an arm triangle but Shafer is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Man closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Shafer quickly recovers to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Man is figuring out what he wants to do next. Shafer avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Man. Man perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Shafer blocking the ground and pound attempt from Man. Man controlling the action here.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Money Man just wasn't active enough. Shafer stuns Man with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Alex Shafer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Man shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Money Man is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Man shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Shafer sprawls well. Shafer wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Man gets slowly back to his feet. Man takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Money Man. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Man, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
