Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dirty Randy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dirty Randy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Shields!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Randy.

Randy has closed the distance and engaged Shields in a clinch.
Randy is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Shields prevents the takedown attempt.
Randy throws an elbow that misses.

Randy drags the fight down to the ground.
Randy tries to strike from the bottom.
Shields stops Randy from standing up.
Shields is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Shields wants to control from the top but Randy keeps moving.
Randy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Randy is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Shields trying to control the position from guard on top but Randy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Randy bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Shields's guard.

Randy gets to his feet - Shields follows without any prompting.
Dirty Randy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Randy tries to clinch there but Shields circles away.
Randy throws a sloppy head kick and Shields moves out of range easily.
Randy tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Randy tries a head kick but it misses.
Shields circles away from the clinch attempt.
No joy there for Randy, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Randy looking to score a takedown here. Shields is defending well but Randy drives through and ends up in Shields's guard.
Shields is looking to stand up but Randy isn't so interested in that idea.
Shields controls Randy momentarily but Randy frees himself.

Shields is controlling Randy's posture.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Randy got a little sloppy there for a moment and Shields has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Randy has managed to get both his arms back between Shields's legs - danger averted.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Shields seems keen to control Randy's posture.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jack Shields.

Randy closes the distance and pushes Shields back into the cage.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Randy as Shields tries to tie him up.

Randy is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Shields can't fight it off and eventually Randy manages to take the fight to the floor. Shields looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Randy looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Randy would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Shields has Randy pulled in close to control his posture.
Shields looking to hit a scissor sweep but Randy is one step ahead there.

Randy postures up.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Jack Shields has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Randy shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Shields as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dirty Randy. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shields throws a head kick that misses.
Shields tries to clinch but Randy is having none of it.
Shields moves in looking to clinch but Randy pushes him off.

Randy has Shields up against the cage in a clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Shields is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Randy is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dirty Randy dominated that round.
That's time! Randy's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Excellent takedown into side control there by Randy.

Randy decides to stand back up. Randy steps back and let's Shields get back to his feet.
Shields tries to clinch up but Randy circles away and keeps his distance.
Left hook, right uppercut from Randy.


It looks like Jack Shields has been cut.
Horrible takedown by Shields or perhaps it was just good defense by Randy which made him look bad.
Shields throws a body kick that misses.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Randy misses with a head kick.
Shields throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Randy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Shields working a defensive guard here.
Shields wants to stand but Randy is controlling the position.
Shields preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Shields wants to stand up but Randy is controlling him.
Randy sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Shields's guard.
Shields is staying active underneath Randy, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shields is trying to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Randy trying to mount his opponent but Shields defends it.
Shields moves into full guard.
Dirty Randy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Shields wants to sweep here but Randy controlling him for the moment.
Randy is looking to stand up but Shields won't let him.

Randy avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Shields working a defensive guard here.
Randy with a flurry of punches that miss.
Randy prevents Shields from getting back to his feet.
Randy looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Randy won't allow Shields to get back to his feet.

Shields seems keen to control Randy's posture.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Shields shoots in and drives through. Randy sprawls well.
Randy fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Randy tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Shields swivels and escapes.

Randy decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Randy prevents Shields from improving his position.
Shields keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Randy stops Shields from getting back to his feet.
Randy trying to control the pace.
Shields wants to improve his position but Randy is controlling well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Dirty Randy.

Randy drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dirty Randy dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Jack Shields's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Randy shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Shields counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Shields.

Shields throws a sloppy strike and Randy has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Shields is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Randy!
