Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Henry Saari! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jim Williams! The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Wagner Zegers and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Williams closes the distance but Saari moves to the side and Saari counters with a leg kick. Saari lands with a hook. Williams tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Saari looks to score with a jab to the body but Williams is just out of range. Williams tries to clinch but Saari moves away letting Saari counter with a right hand. Saari misses the shot to the body. Nice takedown defense from Saari. No joy for Williams on that attempt. No luck with that takedown attempt from Williams. Saari just misses with a punch to the body.
Williams takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Saari misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Williams closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. This has been an exciting period of action! Williams looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Williams wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Saari, who protects the arm well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Williams wants to control but Saari is keeping him busy. Williams working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Williams wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Saari, who protects the arm well. Williams tries for a kimura but Saari is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Williams creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Saari sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Saari is trying to improve his position. Williams is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Saari knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Williams looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Williams is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Saari has escaped the position, nice work there. Williams in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Saari is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
