Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Jacobs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quaron Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jimmy Jacobs! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Quaron Thomas! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Bruno Lombardi and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jacobs fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Thomas avoids it really well and circles away. Jacobs looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Some wild striking there from Jacobs.
Thomas tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jacobs swats him away and circles back towards the center. Jacobs is looking to clinch but Thomas is avoiding it.
Thomas fails in his attempt to clinch. Thomas shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Jacobs manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Jacobs being controlled here, momentarily. Let's hope that Thomas has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's one minute gone in the round. It looks like Thomas might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Quaron Thomas hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Horrible takedown by Thomas or perhaps it was just good defense by Jacobs which made him look bad.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thomas clinches up with Jacobs and pushes him back against the cage. Thomas scores with a shot to the side of Jacobs's head. Thomas is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Jacobs is keeping busy. Jacobs is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Thomas is defending well for now. Thomas tries for a takedown. No joy.

Thomas tries to pull guard but Jacobs forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Jimmy Jacobs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Quaron Thomas. Jacobs prevents Thomas from breaking the clinch. Thomas has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Jacobs after a bit of a struggle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jacobs fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Thomas continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up. Thomas looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Thomas is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Thomas wants to take the fight to the mat but Jacobs manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Thomas tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jacobs just stands there and leans against the cage. Thomas manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Jacobs wants to control from the top but Thomas keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Thomas wants to sweep here but Jacobs controlling him for the moment. Thomas has Jacobs pulled in close to control his posture. Thomas trying to control the position.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Jacobs leaves Thomas with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Thomas shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jacobs pinned against the cage. Jacobs gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Quaron Thomas dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jacobs. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Jacobs checks the leg kick. Jacobs tries to close the distance and clinch up but Thomas swats him away and circles back towards the center. Thomas wants to clinch. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Thomas paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thomas throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Jacobs. Thomas gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jacobs to score an easy takedown into full guard. Thomas has his hands on Jacobs's head, controlling the position. Thomas manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Jacobs reaches up to try and control the position but Thomas seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Jacobs rolls and tries to escape and now Thomas has his back!
Thomas controlling the position well here. Jacobs rolled but Thomas kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Thomas lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Jacobs hold on?!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Thomas trying to control. Thomas has Jacobs flattened out and is raining down punches. Jacobs knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Thomas on the ground. Thomas controlling from the back. Thomas trying to control momentarily.
Thomas is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Jacobs has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Thomas has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Jacobs taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Thomas doesn't care though - he's delighted!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Quaron Thomas! Quaron Thomas retains his welterweight title!
